Deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used rolling bearings, featuring a simple structure with inner/outer rings, steel balls and cage. FAQs

The core difference lies in sealing performance and application scenarios. The Dust Cover type (including metal shield) has a labyrinth gap, which mainly prevents dust and debris from entering, is suitable for medium-pollution environments, and has lower friction (more suitable for high-speed operation). The Seal type (rubber or composite seals) has a closer seal lip (even contact with the inner ring), which can effectively prevent moisture, oil, and other liquids from intruding, and is more suitable for harsh environments such as humidity and oil pollution. For reference: single seal (Single Seal) is suitable for light moisture, double seal (Double Seals) for heavy moisture.
It is not recommended. Open Deep Groove Ball Bearings have no dust-proof or waterproof structure, and outdoor environments (dust, rain, dew) will cause impurities to enter the bearing, accelerate wear and rust, and shorten service life. If outdoor use is required, we recommend choosing Deep Groove Ball Bearing with Seals (double seals are preferred) or Stainless Steel Deep Groove Ball Bearing, which have better sealing and corrosion resistance.
The biggest advantage is the compact and lightweight design. Under the premise of meeting the basic load-bearing requirements, the thin-walled structure greatly reduces the cross-sectional size and weight, which can maximize the use of installation space. It is especially suitable for equipment that requires miniaturization and lightweight, such as robotics, precision instruments, and small electric drives. At the same time, it maintains good rigidity and rotation accuracy, and the limiting speed is not lower than that of standard bearings.
It is mainly suitable for environments with corrosion, humidity, or high temperature. Made of high-quality stainless steel (such as SUS440C), it has excellent rust resistance and corrosion resistance, and can work stably in environments such as humidity, salt spray, and weak acid/alkali. Common application scenarios include food processing machinery, medical equipment, marine equipment, chemical equipment, and outdoor equipment that is prone to rain and moisture.
The flange (set on the outer ring of the bearing) has two core functions: ① Positioning: It can limit the axial displacement of the bearing, ensuring that the bearing does not move axially during operation, and improving installation accuracy. ② Simplify installation: It can simplify the structure of the bearing seat, reduce the number of positioning parts, and make installation more convenient and efficient. It is especially suitable for small and micro bearings and equipment that require precise positioning (such as small motors, encoders).
It is not suitable. The filling slot designed on the inner and outer rings of this type of bearing can hold more steel balls, which significantly improves the radial load-bearing capacity, but the filling slot will destroy the integrity of the raceway, resulting in increased friction and reduced stability during high-speed operation, and even affecting the service life. It is only suitable for occasions with large radial loads but low speed and small axial loads (such as handling equipment, agricultural machinery gearboxes).
The main difference lies in the rolling body material and performance. Ceramic balls (such as silicon nitride, zirconia) have the advantages of high hardness, wear resistance, high temperature resistance (can withstand up to 300℃), non-magnetic properties, and low density. Compared with ordinary steel ball bearings, they have higher rotation accuracy, lower noise, longer service life, and are suitable for high-speed, high-precision, and special environments (such as magnetic field environments, high-temperature equipment), such as precision spindles and medical equipment.
There are three key maintenance points: ① Avoid excessive pressure: The rubber coating on the outer ring is relatively soft, so avoid excessive installation pressure to prevent the rubber layer from being damaged or falling off. ② Keep clean: Avoid the rubber layer coming into contact with organic solvents (such as gasoline, alcohol) to prevent aging and cracking. ③ Regular lubrication: Although the bearing is pre-lubricated before leaving the factory, it is necessary to add appropriate lubricating grease regularly according to the working environment to ensure smooth operation and reduce wear of the rubber layer and internal components.
